Complete list of Non-allowable Items By Southern Cargo Packers & Movers

When using services from movers and packers while shifting, there are certain terms and conditions which need to be abided while hiring the services. Among the terms, there are actually certain items that are not allowed to be transported by the movers and packers due to one or the other reason. Some are for the protection of the customer, while the others are due to security issues and non-liability of the movers. So for that we have got a list for you of the non-allowable items as follows.

Perishable Items:

Perishable items like food products, milk, etc. which are not processed and need to be immediately consumed are not allowed because then they go bad and cause issues like fungus and reek all over the place. Also meats are another big issue as there is unavailability of cold storage here.

Hazardous materials:

Stuff dangerous for the belongings and the property of the movers as well as the customer is not allowed along with other items. The list of items is as follows:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Ammonia
  • Ammunition
  • Car batteries
  • Charcoal/lighter fluid
  • Chemistry sets
  • Cleaning solvents
  • Darkroom chemicals
  • Fertilizer
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Fireworks
  • Fuels/oils
  • Household batteries
  • Kerosene
  • Liquid bleach
  • Loaded guns
  • Matches
  • Nail polish
  • Paint thinners
  • Pesticides
  • Poisons
  • Pool chemicals
  • LPG Cylinders
  • Scuba tanks
  • Weed killer

Personal Stuff:

Personal stuff like things of sentimental value, or important documents pertaining to the customer, jewellery, lockers, etc. are not allowed since the movers are not liable to the security of the important stuff. The main issue here is that the stuff actually carrying with the rest of the goods like furniture and all is really impractical also. Plus if something gets misplaced, the movers do not want to be liable for its security since they are high value items. The list is given below.

  • Address books
  • Airline tickets
  • Car titles
  • Cash
  • Cell phones
  • Checkbooks
  • Computer data files/backups
  • Family photographs/photo albums
  • Financial documents (stocks, bonds, CDs, deeds, tax records)
  • Insurance policies
  • Jewellery and furs
  • Keys (car, furniture, new home)
  • Laptop computers
  • Medical/dental records
  • New home documents
  • Prescription medicine
  • Professional files/research projects
  • School records

Along with this, stuff like firecrackers, or any other goods that you find important but had been infested or rotten or whatever might be the case, the company will not be liable to transport it for you. So make sure you arrange everything accordingly so that there are no last minute hiccups. Also another important point here being is that the company should be given prior notice of the goods that are packed.

If there are any goods that are non-allowable and are packed in with the other stuff, and if they are caught during security checks or some other reason or else it causes any kind of damage, the customer is liable to pay all those damages caused for his own goods as well as the damage caused to the movers’ property. So make sure to check with the insurance office what is covered and what is not and also make sure nothing untoward will happen during the process.
