The oldest metro line in India runs in Kolkata and is totally underground. The tram, which was shut in Mumbai years back still ply on the busy streets of Kolkata and provide for a joy ride across the city.

A literary scholar once said “you have not visited a place if you have not tasted its local cuisine”. And if you want to prove this statement right, there are a countless number of places where you can indulge your taste buds, and if you are willing, even take them for a ride.
Be your preference vegetarian or non vegetarian, spicy or bland, traditional or fusion, there is always a plethora of options on offer. Some of the best places where you can pick your choice are:

For the Enthusiastic Feet
If going around and exploring the city is your motto, there are again, as always, countless number of places that you can visit. If history and architecture excites you, the Howrah Bridge or the Victoria memorial will be of interest to you.
If you are interested in literature or movies, then the Writers’ Building is a must visit. If you are spiritual minded, then Kalighat or the Dakshineshwar temple on the banks of Ganges simply cannot be missed. If you want to go shopping, Gariahat or Naihati are the two major shopping areas of the city.
If village life excites you, move a little further away from the city and Jhargram or Shyamnagar will take you ages back into the past.
